The O-Studio Origin Story

A personal reflection from Founder & CEO, Tim Bateman, on the experience that inspired O-Studio and the powerful connection between how we feel and how we perform.

June 8, 2026

There’s a moment that stands out for me.

Laura was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis when our girls were five and three.

At the time, I was playing professional rugby. Physically, nothing had changed. Same training, same preparation, same body.

But my performance wasn’t the same.

It was like a mirror:

When Laura’s health was good, I played well.
When her health dipped, my performance dipped.

Same speed. Same strength. Same fitness.

Completely different output.

And it was frustrating, because on paper nothing had changed. But internally, everything had. What I was feeling off the field was showing up on it.

The Realisation

That period taught me something I hadn’t fully understood before.

Physical performance isn’t just physical.

Your mental and emotional state sits underneath everything: stress at home, worry, uncertainty, fatigue that isn’t from training. It all carries over.

The thing is, this isn’t unique to professional sport. It wasn’t even unique to just Laura and I. It’s life.

Everyone is carrying something: Work pressure, family challenges, health issues, financial stress and life transitions.

We’re all dealing with our own version of it.

The Gap

What stood out to me was how little support there was for that side of things.

We’re told to push through. Keep going. Be resilient.

But very rarely are we given practical ways to reset -to actually recover.

Not just physically, but mentally and emotionally as well.

That gap stuck with me.

Where O-Studio Came From

O-Studio wasn’t built from a business idea first; instead, it came from that experience.

From understanding that how you feel directly impacts how you show up.

At work. At home. In your relationships. In your performance.

The idea was simple.

Create a space where people can step away from everything for a moment.

A place where you don’t have to perform. You don’t have to push.

You just come in, and reset.

What That Looks Like in Practice

It’s why O-Studio is more than just one service.

It’s not just a sauna. Or an ice bath. Or a float.

It’s a combination of tools and services, all under one roof, that are proven to help people regulate, recover, and feel better.

But just as importantly, it’s the environment.

Calm, considered, and welcoming.

And the people.

Everyday people, all on their own journey, sharing a space where it’s okay to slow down.

The Lesson That Stayed With Me

If there’s one thing that period of life taught me, it’s this:

You can’t separate how you feel from how you perform.

And you can’t expect to keep giving without taking time to recover.

That applies whether you’re an athlete or not.

Final Thought

O-Studio, at its core, is about helping people show up better in their lives.

Not by pushing harder but by giving them a space to pause, reset, and take care of themselves properly.

Because when you do that, everything else tends to follow.
