How will AI affect the wellness & recovery industry?

I’ve been thinking a bit about AI lately.

Not in a “this is going to take over everything” kind of way, but more in a practical sense… what actually changes, and what stays the same?

Because if you zoom out, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen a big shift like this.

Technology has always created time

You go back to things like the Industrial Revolution, or even just the introduction of machinery into everyday work. A farmer who once spent 18 hours ploughing a field suddenly gets that down to 14. Then 10. Then even less.

And every time that happens, something really interesting follows.

It’s not just that the work gets easier. It’s that time gets created, and what people choose to do with that time tends to follow a pattern.

They spend more time doing things they enjoy, like looking after themselves.

You can picture it pretty easily.

That same farmer now has time to go fishing with his daughter.
-He has time to cook better food.
He has time to rest, to move, to think.

And this isn’t a one off example. It’s a pattern we’ve seen again and again.

Technology creates efficiency.
Efficiency creates time.
And time gets reinvested into lifestyle and wellbeing.

Why AI Is a tailwind for Wellness

That’s why I’m genuinely optimistic about what AI means for the recovery and wellness space.

Because we’re already seeing it.

People are spending less time on emails.
Less time on admin.
Less time on repetitive tasks that used to fill their day.

And when that happens, they start asking better questions.

How do I feel?
How do I recover better?
What actually helps me perform, not just physically, but mentally and emotionally as well?

That’s exactly where O-Studio sits. At its core, what we do is pretty simple. We create a space where people can step away from the noise, reset, and look after themselves using tools that actually work.

If AI continues to give people back time, then naturally, more people will look to invest that time into experiences like this.

Not because they have to, but because they want to.

Building a better business with AI

The second piece for us is how we actually use AI inside the business.

One of our core values is that: We Innovate. Not for the sake of it, but because we want to make things better, for both our customers and our franchise owners.

AI is already starting to play a role in that.

Behind the scenes, it’s helping us simplify systems.
It’s improving how we train and support our teams.
It’s making sales, marketing, and operations more efficient and more consistent.

If you compare running a business today to even three years ago, it’s a completely different landscape.

There are fewer barriers.
There’s more clarity.
And there’s a lot more support available.

For our franchise owners, that matters.

Because owning a business should feel like something that improves your life, not something that overwhelms it.

AI, when used well, helps us move in that direction.

Reimagining the customer experience

Where it gets really interesting, though, is the customer experience.

This is the part we’re spending a lot of time thinking about.

Because the question isn’t just “how do we use AI?”
It’s “how do we use it in a way that actually adds value?”

A few things we’re exploring:

How do we use AI to give people more personalised guidance around their recovery?
How do we help someone understand what mix of sauna, ice bath, float, or massage is actually right for them?
How do we educate people better, without overwhelming them?
How do we make the experience more engaging, maybe even a bit more fun, through things like gamification or progress tracking?
And ultimately, how do we embed AI in a way that enhances the human experience, not replaces it?

Because that’s the key.

The goal isn’t to automate connection out of the experience. It’s to use technology to make the experience feel more relevant, more tailored, and more impactful for each individual.

Accelerating the Mission

If you bring it back to our mission, it all ties together.

We want recovery and wellness to be as understood, as accepted, and as practiced as physical fitness.

AI has the potential to accelerate that.

It can help people understand what works.
It can help remove friction.
And it can make it easier for people to build habits that actually stick.

But at the end of the day, the fundamentals don’t change.

People still need spaces to slow down.
They still need connection.
They still need time away from the noise.

If anything, as the world becomes more digital and more automated, those physical, human experiences become even more important.

Where is this all heading?

So when I think about AI and the future of this industry, I don’t see it as a threat.

I see it as a tailwind.

More time.
Better tools.
More awareness.

All pointing in the same direction. And for us, it’s about making sure we’re ready to meet that moment in the right way.

If you’re someone who’s been watching this space, or even just thinking about where things are heading, it’s a pretty exciting time to be involved.
